Wedding Wednesday #3

August 1, 2012

A lot of our thoughts right now are focused on planning our wedding rather than renovating our house, so I've decided that the first Wednesday of every month between now and the wedding will be deemed "Wedding Wednesday". For those of you who just don't give a damn, I don't blame you. But don't worry, there will only be 9 of these posts!

I don't know why I bother writing lists. I don't think there has ever been a single time that I crossed everything off of one. July's to-do list was short, but I only managed to do one thing.

Things to do for July...
  • book photographer <-- communication started, got a quote, just need to make it official
  • book DJ <-- my mom is finding out who a couple family members used
  •  order bridesmaid dresses (which have changed since the last post)
  • order all the stuff we need to make invitations <-- we've decided what we're doing, we just need to order!
Things to do for August...
  • officially book photographer
  • book DJ
  • order invitation stuff
Because we're still so far out there's really not much happening. I imagine as the day gets closer we'll get busier!

I'm glad to have my bridesmaid dresses out of the way. I had originally planned for all of the girls to wear a different dress, but two of them ended up liking the same one, so it just ended up being easier for my maid of honour to wear one dress, and the other four girls to wear a different one (and yes my total bridesmaid count is up to five from four! The more the merrier).

My cousin, who is my Maid of Honour, is wearing this:

The other girls are wearing this one:

The bow is floppy and weird and is going to be removed. Because we're getting married in the winter, I'm also getting all of the girls this sweater to wear for pictures...and maybe even the ceremony because I think it's kind of a cute, not so formal, look.

Other than that, I'm pretty sure I'm just going to get them to wear black flats and call it an outfit. What do you think?

Oh, we did decide on flowers, despite it not being on the to-do list. Originally we had planned to go with white Ranunculus but the florist sort of advised against them because we would need a whole bunch to make up a decent centerpiece, and they were something like $3 a stem. Ouch. Instead she recommended white hydrangea, which made my heart happy because I love hydrangeas. They are more expensive individually at $8 a head, but we need only one per centerpiece...so in the end it will be less expensive. Still not cheap, but, c'est la vie.

That's it for now!
